Are you looking for a role in a practice where people come first?
Would you like to work with 30 to 60 minute appointments, breaks and a supportive culture?
Do you enjoy working with humans as well as pets?
If so, read on, we may have the job for YOU!
About Harmony Animal Hospital:
We have been on quite a journey since we opened our clinic in September 2019 and became the first Fear Free Certified clinic in Northern Virginia! We opened with the owner-doctor and 4 support staff. We thrived during the COVID 19 pandemic and grew our staff to now include 3 doctors and 13 support staff! We exist to create a nurturing environment where we strengthen the bond between pets and their families through education and compassion.
At the core of our work is our values. These are: compassion, communication, growth, community impact, integrity and fun. Our values are also the basis of our culture so if they matter to you and you are willing to live up to these things then there’s a great chance you will be an excellent fit. It cannot be stressed enough how much a healthy culture matters to us.
In terms of what we are like as a clinical practice, we think of ourselves as being a bit like a family doctor. We are here to help the local community and their pets. We believe in giving the clients the time and attention they need to make good decisions for their pets and in building strong relationships with clients and each other.
Hopefully the message we are getting across is that we have a clear vision, strong culture and believe in growth opportunities for individuals. We genuinely want to see all of our team flourish (and be rewarded) as we bring our vision to life.
About You:
We are looking for a driven Veterinarian with a minimum 2 years of experience. You’ll not only love helping pets but you will play well with people also! We are quite busy so we need someone who is a fast paced learner and go-getter.
We need someone with charisma who can build trusting relationships. You will be someone who can greet clients and pets with a cheery smile on their face and practice great medicine. You’ll most likely be someone who likes to learn as well as help others grow.
We do have clear guidelines and expectations about how we work together as a team, and we do work hard-but we are not looking for someone who will work themselves into the ground. The last thing we want is for any of our team to burnout, so we need you to be aware of how to take care of yourself as well.
We are trying to change the mold of veterinary medicine by creating a great working environment where we care about each other as much as we care about pets and clients. Profit matters, but it’s not the most important thing to us. Our people come first, then pets, then clients-if we get this stuff right, then we know the financial side of life will look after itself.
What can you expect from us?
First, you can expect to work with professional and friendly colleagues who want to help you grow. Growth and development is at the core of what we are doing.
You can also expect a friendly, welcoming and open culture from top to bottom. Ego isn’t a welcome guest here. We want humble teammates (that doesn’t mean meek). Our team is fun and we like to have a good laugh! In addition, we learn, grow and move forward as a team. We want to work with people who push us to get better and people who call us out with compassion and kindness when we might be wrong (and gently steer us back in the right direction). Emotional Intelligence is the heart of who we are and how we interact.
You can expect support and learning opportunities so you can build your skills. This comes in many forms: from one-on-one coaching, on the job mentoring and a wide variety of continuing knowledge opportunities both online and in person. Our goal is to build your confidence and competence with caring mentorship.
You can also expect a fair wage. We are a small practice but we want to pay our people fairly. We have a generous benefits package that includes a generous stipend toward health/dental/vision insurance, 401K match, paid CE/PLIT/DEA & Virginia license, PTO, Disability Insurance, AFLAC, CE allowance, Fear Free certification and CE, pet care discounts and additional training and certifications based on your interests.
What we need from you:
We are looking first and foremost for someone who “gets" what we are trying to achieve and can fit our team culture and values.
You will have a great way of making clients feel confident in our abilities. You will have excellent communication and be able handle stressful days with ease and grace. You will be skilled at leadership, patient care, loyalty and team support. You will advocate for the patients. You will have the ability to juggle a busy schedule with compassion and patience. You will also be a person who can manage time, priorities, and get work done efficiently on a daily basis. This also means taking lunch breaks because you can’t be at your best when you are running on fumes.
These will be your focus:
-“US”-your vet tribe
-Our clients -if you can do clients, you can do this (if not, then you are not the right fit)
-Our patients
-You-Really….YOU in a big way
-We want you to be willing to learn and grow
-We want you to help others on the team learn and grow
-We want you to leave your ego at the door
-We want to laugh and cry with you at the crazy stuff we have to deal with
-We want to be able to have a beer/wine/soda with you after work
-We want you to understand the owner of this practice cares very deeply about helping you get to where you want to go and achieve who you want to become
-We want you to accept that you are not perfect, none of us are and that is OK. Failure is OK as long as you learn
-We want you to be HAPPY
If YOU can do that, we would be very, very proud to call you our teammate!
