The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University (ISU), located in Ames, Iowa, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, clinical or tenure track faculty appointment in the area of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) and the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC).  The LVMC is a state-of-the-art teaching hospital providing specialized care for companion and large animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. The candidate will join a department with over 50 diverse faculty and staff members, allied in teaching, research, and clinical efforts relevant to companion animals, equids, and other large animals.

The successful candidate will provide clinical service and teaching in the LVMC and the primary focus for all aspects of the position will be on veterinary emergency and critical care for patients in the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital. Clinical duties may include weekend and after-hours obligations. Supervision and instruction of interns and residents, instruction of clinical-year students, and primary case supervision is expected, in addition to participation and contribution to weekly resident boards review and journal clubs. The successful candidate should have a collegial, collaborative attitude and willingness to participate in all levels of technician, student, and house officer education. Remaining effort may include participation in research, scholarship, and traditional didactic and laboratory teaching. Appointment rank will be determined by the qualifications, documented experience, and interests of the selected candidate.

- DVM or equivalent degree.

- Successful completion of an American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) residency. Individuals in their final year of residency training are encouraged to apply.

- Evidence of competency in performance of veterinary emergency and critical care clinical services.

- State of Iowa Veterinary License on or before first day of employment.

- Eligible to register under the state Controlled Substances Act with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy upon employment.
