Come join the vibrant veterinary community in El Paso, TX!!
If you are interested in companion animals, mixed practice, shelter medicine or emergency medicine, El Paso has a place for you! El Paso is great place to be a veterinarian for many reasons, such as:
The El Paso Veterinary Medical Association is an award winning local veterinary medical association! Our annual banquet is attended by representatives from national and state veterinary medical associations, and our bi-monthly meetings allow for networking and continuing education.
We have 30+ small/mixed animal clinics in the county, along with multiple mobile clinics, speciality practices, city and county animal shelters, equine services (mobile or at the Sunland Park Horse Racing facility), and emergency hospitals that are part of the EPVMA.
El Paso was a 2020 finalist of theAll American City Award in part because of the city’s commitment to animal welfare in collaboration with Animal Services, animal rescue organizations, and the veterinary community, helping the community to achieve 90% live release rate.
El Paso has the El Paso Animal Collaborative, an organization that brings the El Paso Community Foundation, the El Paso Veterinary Medical Association, and all the animal-related organizations in the area together to focus on common animal welfare issues.
As a new member of the veterinary community, the EPVMA will provide you with a once a month house cleaning service for your first year. The EPVMA will be holding monthly raffles of personal services/restaurant gift certificate for members.
Along with our focus on animal welfare issues, El Paso is one of the safest cities in the US (5th in a 2020 study) and has a great cost-of-living(Best Places - El Paso). El Paso has two universities, University of Texas El Paso (undergraduate & graduate programs) and Texas Tech University with a medical, nursing and dental school. Our school districts also have a US Blue Ribbon health magnet high school.
On the cultural side, El Paso has a zoo (AZA Quarter Century Award winner), multiple museums, and a children’s museum set to open in 2022. The children’s museum will have a “play” veterinary clinic and local animal-related exhibits partially sponsored by the EPVMA. El Paso also has multiple concert venues, the Triple A Chihuahuas baseball team, and the USL Locomotives soccer team for your entertainment. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities with a state park in the middle of the city, and multiple state/national parks in both Texas & New Mexico for your outdoor needs. We are a bilingual community with great & varied cuisines and several microbreweries.
If this has sparked your interest, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will connect you to the clinic(s)/organization(s) that have opportunities.
