Looking for an awesome associate to compliment our small animal practice. Come join one of the longest established, independently owned practices in the great State of Maine. The position would focus on our busy small animal practice that sees a great variety of cases from the routine to the complex. While the owner does do some limited large animal work, we are in need of a enthusiastic small animal veterinarian. We see primarily cats and dogs with the occasional rabbit or pocket pet as well. There is a growing demand for someone whom might also be interested in exotics as well as avian practice. Our practice is located adjacent to I-95 in central Maine, about halfway between Portland and Bangor, each about 1 hours drive. Our well equipped 4,400 square foot small animal hospital was built in 2005 and the core members of the staff have been here for years and years, making us like family. We have complete in-house laboratory, separate digital radiology and surgery suites, 3 outpatient exam rooms, separate isolation, feline and canine wards, including indoor dog runs, and a spacious treatment area with dedicated dental procedure area. We are full service small animal hospital, handling routine outpatient appointments to complex surgical cases, but aren't ashamed to send clients to referral centers when appropriate. We currently have 3 technicians on staff to assist with patient care as well as a dedicated reception crew to handle the front office duties. There typically would be another doctor working in the hospital at the same time to help with the case load and consult with if needed. Mentoring of new graduates is very important to us, allowing us to introduce you to "the real world" and help you establish bonds with our clients and pets. At the same time, it gives us fresh ideas and an opportunity to learn as well.
This position would be full-time, with a scheduled 4 day work week to allow for long weekends to enjoy time off to explore the beautiful state, spend time with friends and family and relax! Afterhours emergencies are referred to other providers so, NO weekend or afterhours emergency work involved. Part-time or flex-time positions could be arranged if more desirable. Veterinarians are paid straight salary which is negotiable based on experience, however a compensation package based on production could be arranged if desired. Partnership / ownership potential if interested. Health insurance, SIMPLE IRA, paid continuing education, paid vacation, AVMA and Maine VMA dues, and more are all included in the full-time compensation package.
