The Centaur Equine Specialty Hospital is adding talented veterinary technicians to our team!  This team will work closely together to provide superior care to our equine patients and excellent customer service to our clients in a state of the art facility in Shelbyville, IN.  The Centaur Equine Specialty Hospital at Purdue University values credentialed technicians for the skill and knowledge they bring to the hospital, students, and patients.  Be a part of the rapidly growing and exciting hospital providing care to equine patients to the Midwest.

This posting may be filled at multiple levels (S3 or S4). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

S3 requirements:

•     Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program

S4 requirements:

•     Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program
•     Two years of experience as a credentialed veterinary technician

 Required:

•     Candidates must be registered as a veterinary technician in Indiana within 12 months of hire date
•     Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
•     Good oral/written communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions
•     Ability to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in a veterinary hospital environment
•     Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally

Preferred:

•     Experience in a veterinary practice or veterinary teaching hospital
•     Emergency or critical care experience
•     Equine experience

 Additional Information:

•     This position is located in Shelbyville, Indiana
•     Workday will consist of 8 - 10 hours, totaling 40 hours per work week
•     Shifts will rotate and may include days, nights and weekends
•     Will also participate in holiday coverage rotation and after hours on-call for evenings and weekends
•     This was formerly classified as an operational/technical position; an internal lateral transfer will retain same benefit standing
•     Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position
•     A background check will be required for employment in this position
•     FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible For Overtime)
