Associate Veterinarian, Full time, Small animal exclusive
Companion Animal Hospital of Tamaqua
Companion Animal Hospital of Tamaqua is searching for a fulltime associate veterinarian to join our dedicated team. Our independently owned hospital has been serving the community for almost nineteen years with steady growth every year. Our mission is to provide quality medical and surgical services to our patients that exceed their expectations and build firm and lasting relationships with our clients in the process. The hospital is fully equipped to provide better than accepted standards of care for patient diagnostics and treatment. We have a full in house laboratory consisting of three VetScan chemistry machines, an HM5 cbc analyzer, Abaxis coag unit, Idexx Catalyst and a brand new VetCheck machine. Our ultrasound has been recently upgraded to the latest Versana model from GE/SOUND for our full scans, but we kept our old machine just to perform AFAST and TFAST ultrasounds. We have both regular digital radiography and digital dental radiography machines. We utilize our Companion therapy laser on a daily basis. Rounding out our array of diagnostic and monitoring equipment are a Tonovet to measure intraocular pressure, electrocautery, multiple ECG, pulse oximeters, capnographs, blood pressure monitors, oxygen cage, suction unit and many IV fluid pumps. If technology advances with equipment, we advance with it. Our caseload is very varied! We see dogs, cats, pocket pets, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles, a limited number of avian species and wildlife for a local environmental center. We provide services to two quality rescue organizations as well. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday with one Saturday morning per month. Off hour emergencies are referred to several ER facilities within a 45 minute driving distance. The successful candidate would receive a negotiable salary, health and dental insurance, paid licensing fees, CE allowance, paid vacation, and 401K. New graduates are encouraged to apply! Strong mentoring would be provided as needed. The owner veterinarian has a background as an associate professor at Penn State and still enjoys teaching! Lifelong learning is highly encouraged! The Tamaqua area is small town life- our cost of living is low, our school systems are excellent, and there are great opportunities for outdoor activities. We are also an easy day trip drive to Philadelphia, the Jersey shore and New York City. Don’t overlook this opportunity to be part of a respected community practice that allows you to practice great medicine! Candidates should send a resume to kekvmd@ptd.net.
