Veterinarians needed for a well-established, currently 5-doctor, mixed animal practice in northern New York. We are looking for ambitious, enthusiastic small or large animal veterinarians. Mixed practitioners are also welcome! We practice high quality medicine in a home-town atmosphere.
Small animal details include a newly renovated hospital with Impromed Infinity software, digital radiographs, digital dental radiographs, high speed dental unit, and full in house IDEXX lab, and more. Lots of mentoring and support are available and we have a friendly, experienced support staff. We have shared on-call service with 5 other local practices, so on-call is minimal; 1 week every 5 weeks, shared among the small animal veterinarians. Our technicians triage any emergency calls. There are several 24-hour emergency clinics less than an hour away in the Syracuse area for anything beyond our capabilities. Opportunities are available to develop your interests – ultrasound, dentistry, physical therapy, etc.
Large animal details include Ibex portable ultrasounds with vehicle and all other equipment and supplies provided. Lots of mentoring and support are provided. On-call service is shared equally among the large animal veterinarians. Our clients consist of family owned dairies ranging from less than 50 cows to more than 2000 and include conventional, organic, and Amish production, as well as some pleasure horses and small ruminants. There is a lot of opportunity to expand into pet and production small ruminant medicine as well as equine, backyard poultry, and swine.
Watertown is close to the St. Lawrence river, Lake Ontario, the Adirondacks, and we are only 30 minutes from the Canadian border. It is a great area for outdoor sports enthusiasts as year-round recreation abounds. Hunting, fishing, snow sports, water sports, hiking, camping … the list goes on. Watertown is a small city with a stable economy due to the nearby Army base at Fort Drum. We are also an easy drive to Syracuse, Albany, and Rochester. New graduates are welcome to apply. Salary will be dependent on experience and species. Straight salary and Pro-Sal can be considered and can be renegotiated after 6 months. Benefits include, but are not limited to, paid C.E., health insurance, 401(k) and profit sharing, paid vacation, membership dues, licensing, and potential for future partnership.
