The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) is seeking a Director of Admissions and Recruitment Affairs to join its high-performing team in Washington, D.C. The Director of Admissions and Recruitment Affairs develops and implements programs and initiatives related to admissions and recruitment activities at AAVMC member institutions and serves as project manager/staff liaison on related special projects consistent with the Association’s mission and strategic plan.
The ideal Director of Admissions and Recruitment Affairs is highly organized, analytical and is an independent self-starter who also thrives in a collaborative environment. This position requires travel approximately 15-25% of the time and periodic evening and weekend work.
Summary of Primary Responsibilities
Oversees the centralized application system for veterinary medical colleges (VMCAS)
Serves as liaison between the VMCAS host vendor and AAVMC member institutions
Develops programs and initiatives to support and enhance the admissions and recruitment activities of AAVMC member institutions
Serves as staff liaison to the AAVMC Admissions and Recruitment Committee
Develops and generates data and reports related to admissions and recruitment to support and enhance the activities or AAVMC member institutions
Develops and manages annual budget for recruitment and admissions programs and initiatives
Oversees the development and publication of the Veterinary Medical School Admissions Requirement (VMSAR) booklet annually
Summary of Qualifications
Five or more years of experience in similar role
Strong interpersonal, networking, and verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task within demanding timeframes
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Proficiency with computers and broad knowledge of technology (database administration, website maintenance (CMS), and basic HTML)
